The Brigadoon

"The Brigadoon" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well if I was younger I would go

to a place that I used to know.

In the hills of North Carolina

me and my friends had it all.

Soon as school let out we'd rush off like the wind

day in and out we'd do it all over again.

We'd load them bikes in our trucks side-by-side

so we could get out there in that Brigadoon and ride.

Ride well that's just what we did when we were kids

Man we could not get enough.

Fly all up through them hills for priceless thrills

man we sure thought we were tough

out there in that Brigadoon.

Couple of bucks would keep us riding all afternoon

cause gas was cheap, left us money for smokes and some Moutain Dew.

Unload them bikes, kick em on, let em run

Jeffrey'd have one rolled up for us fore we begun.

Rodeo here go come on let's ride

hit that powerband man I'll be out'a sight.

There's the track up ahead come on let's race

can't see a thing from all the mud up in my face.

Ride well that's just what we did when we were kids

Man we could not get enough.

Fly all up through them hills for priceless thrills

man we sure thought we were tough

out there in that Brigadoon.

Benjamin

"Benjamin"  (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

When I was ten, I met a boy named Benjamin

He was my age and I wanted to be just like him

Cause he was cool, he broke all the rules

And he never got caught

Cause all those fools thought he was blind

So I went down to the barber and I cut my hair

Walked like Ben talked like him

Pierced my ear man I was almost there

And girls they looked at me so differently

And one day I got up the nerve

To say sweet thing come dance with me

But those days are in the past

And I'm still here

And it seemed it went by so fast in this 21st year

This 21st year

Well it's been ten years since I've seen Benjamin

Last I heard from him he was catching fish in Ireland

He said the beer it costs a lot

But they grow some killer pot

And I sure wish you were here drinking a beer

Smok'n a bone, fish’n off the pier

So I quit my job and bought a 70 foot sailboat

I packed my fishing rod, the next thing knew I was afloat.

Man times are good, my boats Norwegian wood

And my sails are big and wide

And atop this ocean is where I reside.

And these days I watch my mast,

while drink'n a beer.

I grab my fishing pole and take a cast,

but I still steer, so I don't veer.

Human Kind

"Human Kind" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well there used to be time when it was accepted

A different place for all different folk

White folk, black folk, yellow folk, different folk

Everywhere you'd go it'd seem like there's a different door

Well not no more

Don't you even start to think I'm that naive

Cause I'm an optimist and I do believe

That this dream we all conceive

Well in time we can achieve...

One race one kind

We've all got Gods Face we've got Gods Mind

We're Humankind

We're Humankind

Well as we sit here today

The problem ain't gone away

You still got kids and they've got friends who've got kin

Who don't like another man just cause the color of his skin.

So why don't we just reveal

What too many try to conceal

Show true kindness to appeal

To those who don't know for real that we're all

One race one kind

We've all got Gods Face we've got Gods Mind

We're Humankind

We're Humankind

Hill Country

"Hill Country" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

What would you do if I asked you

To stick around for just a little while?

Would you look at me and smile so sweetly

Or would you pack up your bags and get outa town?

Well I’m hope’n that you will stick around

Cause I sure like to show you the rest of my town

Now it may take a couple of hours

But I’m kinda hope’n it takes all night

Let's get it right, right tonight yah

Let's get it right, come on yah tonight

Now I’m think’n it’s probably best go on and put them bags down

Cause I’m, I'm gonna take you out on the town

And after you've seen 6th Street, we'll go on down to 4th and have a mug

And then I’m gonna take you on the outskirts of town

And we'll ride through the Texas hill country

Yes we'll ride through the Texas hill country

I’m glad that you’ve made this decision

Now I can start to work with accurate precision

It’s nice that you’ll be around

I think you’ll make a wonderful addition to this town

Now don’t you think that you’re just gonna love it

Soon you’ll realize there ain't nothing above it

It’s like a little piece of heaven here on Earth

Before long you will appreciate its worth

Now I’m think’n it’s probably best go on and put them bags down

Cause I’m, I'm gonna take you out on the town

And after you've seen 6th Street, we'll go on down to 4th and have a mug

And then I’m gonna take you on the outskirts of town

And we'll ride through the Texas hill country

Yes we'll ride through the Texas hill country

Hear'n You

"Hear'n You" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well now if I am hearing you correctly

What you're try'n to say

Is that I ain't going home with you tonight

So I better just get on my way

Well that's alright cause I've been hurt before

I'll just turn and walk right on out that door

But I won't get two steps fore' you hollar at me

please come back I gotta have more

Well alright I'm on my way

I'm so glad that you've asked me to stay

Well I won't let you down no we'll paint the town

Still have plenty of time left to play

Now the first thing that you wanna do

Well it's written all over your face

Cause your giving me them soft eyes

And your putting me right in my place

Well that's alright cause I love this place

Here with you just touch'n your face

Well how could this be wrong, hell it's such a good song

And you're my amazing grace

Here we go another night

You and I girl it's so right

Well we've painted this town hun now don't let me down

Cause I wanna love you with all of my might

It's Over

"It's Over" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well look at me and tell me that

If I love you I'll be loved back

Well if you cannot tell me then it's over

Well it ain't really all that hard

To put your love into what you want to

But if that love ain't me well then it's over

Cause I don't want no one-night stand

What I'm asking is your hand forever

And together we can make it through whatever

But like I said if your love’s dead move over

Cause I ain't down for shaky ground now get over

I'm sorry but I'm not

If this comes as quite a shock but it's over

Well I don't know if you're aware

But I've done that and I've been there enough times

To scar my heart which made me write these love lines

So listen close to what I say

If you can't love me every day well then run on

Cause what I need is someone I can count on

To stick with me through thick and thin

to love me when I'm down and out and back in

Again and again and again

But like I said if your love’s dead move over

Cause I ain't down for shaky ground now get over

I'm sorry but I'm not

If this comes as quite a shock but it's over

To Love Again

"To Love Again" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well I don't know if I'll ever find that one

And that’s ok cause right now I’m done

Look'n round I know I'd rather run

Away from this place

At least I won't have to face

The pain of losin’ grace

So I tell myself I'm alright I'm alone

It's where in at in my life it's what I own

It's who I am what I do & I make it known

So I don't feel that pain

It's easier to place the blame

I’m better off with a little shame

I know this game must end

Cause this way I will never win

And I want is to love again

I’m giving up everything I thought I knew

About us about me and you

Because now I have a clue

As to what I want in love

It's not about this push and shove

but it's something that I dream of

Here I am opening up all my doors

Can't be afraid to love anymore

Cause it's you who I adore

And I can't bear the thought

Of losin’ you because I’m caught

Up in the past because it's not around

This is the here that we are in

And so I'll do my best to begin

Doing what I do to love again

My One

"My One" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Son we've been up and we've been down

Dad's given up but come back around

A time or two because of you

Well I'm who I am and that's quite a man

I'm your dad & you're my son

We're a team and we have fun

And I will always do my best

To get that done, for you my son

You are my one

Now there've been times when we fell

Back down them lines cause dad could not tell

The difference between a lover and a wife

Trying to find a partner for our lives

But in my heart I already knew

Because of you and it rang true

That the one thing I need

Is for you to be safe with me

And I will always do my best

To get that done for you my son

You are my one

Son I praise the Lord for your love

And I thank my fortune stars up above

That I've got you to keep me going strong

even when I feel like I just don't belong

Because you make me

what I am and that's quite a man

Yes I'm your dad, you’re my son

I know this that you’re my one

And I have always done my best

to keep you safe and having fun

You are my one

The Lucky One

"The Lucky One" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Dad won't you come and play with me

Mom come here I want you to see

Cause I'm spiderman, I'm batman, I'm superman

Watch me run, jump, and fly to the sky

Play'n with ya'll well it's like heaven on Earth

If you could truly see all it's worth

You'd see on the inside my hearts brighter than the sun

And someday due to all this play'n well I will be the one

To share in this love and care'n that you have taught your son

Thank you mom, thank you dad, for doin' what you've done

Yeah I'm the lucky one

I'm the lucky one

I'm the lucky one

Mom look at me I'm all grown up

Dad check me out I'm on my own

I'm a businessman, a husband and a father too

Workin', livin' and love'n like you taught me to

Play'n with ya'll well it was like heaven on Earth

Now you can see all it’s worth

My hearts still shining brighter than the sun

And now it's my turn, to share it with my sons

All this care'n, this love and share'n that you have taught your son

Thank you mom, thank you dad for doin' what you've done

I'm the lucky one

I'm the lucky one

I'm the lucky one

The Tune Of Love

"The Tune of Love" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Well here we are,

And we ain't that far

And I think it's time

That we crossed that line

Listen to me

And I'll listen to you

And we'll hear our hearts

Beating in tune

And what a sweet sound

My heart has found

Pumping to yours

It's just thumping around

What a beautiful sound

My heart has found

In the tune of love, love, oh yeah love, love

do do dooo doo da do do do da do do do dooo

doooo dooo dooo dooo

Now that we're here

It's perfectly clear

That we crossed that line

At just the right time

I'm listn'n to you

You're listn'n to me

And our hearts our one

so perfectly

What a sweet sound

My heart has found

Pumping to yours

It's just thumping around

What a beautiful sound

My heart has found

In the tune of love, love, oh yeah love, love

I've never felt

Quite like this

Oh it's pure bliss indeed

I'm pump'n melody

You're pump'n harmony

Oh this is how it should be

Love, Love, Love, Love

do do dooo doo da do do do da do do do dooo

ba ba da ba ba ba da ba, na nah na nah

A Proposal

"A Proposal" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

I've been watching you close

I've been studying your moves

I've been taking notes

Learn’n all your moods

Cause I am so in love

In love with you

Oh you fill my cup

And when my cups not full

I'm just a fool in love with you

Just a fool in love

I've been dreaming of you

Ever since I could dream

And all I want to do

Is enforce what you mean

To my son and I

For the rest of our lives

Well we need you to be

Right where we can see

Wherever we go

In whatever we do

Together we'll grow

Into a family with you

Cause you fill our cups

You hold all of our needs

I think that it's time

I get down on my knee

And ask you pretty please

Will you marry me

Will you be my wife

Will you take me to be

Your partner in this life

Jennifer's Song

"Jennifer's Song" (chords)

Tyler McLaughlin

Jennifer forever I'm yours

Look into my eyes and see how sure

I am about you by my side for the rest of my life

Mentoring, mothering, caring and loving my wife

My dreams came true, the day you said I do

I thank God, for you

Collins gold can't touch

This fortune of ours, no it's worth way too much

Theres nothing in this entire galaxy of ours

And you could keep on goin' way beyond them stars

And you'll never find anything anywhere

That compares to what she means to us

No you won't, not anywhere

My dreams came true, the day you said I do

I thank God, for you
